Windows 7 and Office 2010 Tips and Tricks (Part 2) [LNL]

Last week we had a Lunch 'N Learn (LNL) session at EHOVE discussing Windows 7 and Office 2010 tips and tricks.  Dustin Hindel and I presented just a few common and helpful hints to be aware of when dealing with these updated software products.  Take a look below for a list of the items discussed for Office 2010:

Office 2010 Tips and Tricks:

  • Embed online videos much more easily into PowerPoint
    • You can do this by clicking "Insert" but then click "Video from Website."  All that is required then is the copy/paste in the embed code from an online video.  Your video is now inserted into the PowerPoint!
  • New Ribbon Menu
    • Much like Office 2007 the menu is grouped very intuitively.  You will notice though that the "orb" has been replaced once again with the "File" menu.
  • Print
    • All of the print functions have been grouped in one location.  You can find print functions like print preview and the printer list under the "File>Print" menu.  It's much easier have all of those commands in one location!

  • PDFs
    • PDFs are even easier to work with with Office 2010.  You can now save any open Office document as a PDF just by going to "File>Save As" and selecting PDF in the drop down menu.
  • Image/Video Editing
    • Video and photo editing within Office 2010 applications has been greatly enhanced and has been made easier than ever.  If you click on a photo or video a tools menu for formatting appears with all of the different options available.
  • Save/Send Video
    • PowerPoint 2010 now allows you to package a presentation as a video.  You can set the time between slides as well as optimize the quality for how you want to display the video.

Enjoy :)
